Environmental Management

An Onieda Lake Tributary

The primary goal of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board's Environmental Management program is to promote the careful stewardship of the region's environmental resources. To achieve this goal, the CNY RPDB has focused a significant amount of time in the area of water resource management. Designated as the regional water quality management planning agency for Central New York, the agency provides assistance to communities in preparation and implementation of watershed and stormwater management plans. The agency also serves as the water resource program coordinator for numerous statewide activities on behalf of the New York State Association of Regional Councils (NYSARC) and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). As part of these functions, the CNY RPDB manages the NYSARC Water Resources Management Program web site and the Central New York Stormwater Coalition web site.

The CNY RPDB also provides information about the Local Waterfront Revitalization Project, coordinated by the Cayuga Lake Watershed Intermunicipal Organization.
