Information and Research Services
The primary goal of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board's Information and Research Services program is to gather and disseminate information in a manner that will help inform citizens, businesses, and community leaders across Central New York. To achieve this goal, the CNY RPDB has received designation by the New York State Data Center as a Census Bureau Data Affiliate. This designation provides the agency with access to a wide range of census data products and technical assistance resources at the federal and state levels.
In addition to providing data assess and use, the CNY RPDB is actively engaging in the 2010 Census by working with the NYS Data Center on the Local Update of Census Addresses Program (LUCA), which is designed to improve the Census Bureau population count.
The CNY RPDB is also actively engaged in research and completing studies of major public policy relevance in Central New York. Examples of studies which have been completed include an inventory of telecommunications resources in Central New York and an analysis of the higher education resources which exist across Upstate New York.
